Corporate social responsibility

Corporate social responsibility

At SAS Daniels LLP, we know how important it is to support our local communities. That’s why we have a dedicated corporate social responsibility committee made up of a team of volunteers within the firm, who focus on ways in which we can make a difference in the areas that we serve – Stockport, Chester, Macclesfield and Congleton.
As in everything we do, we seek ways that go above and beyond to add value where we can. We recognise that corporate social responsibility goes way beyond charitable fundraising and is about having a corporate conscience, embracing responsibility for our actions and encouraging a positive impact on our environment, clients, employees and communities.

Our mission:

We will seek to have a positive impact on our surrounding areas and the people living and working within them. The CSR committee has come together as volunteers to co-ordinate ideas and develop a strategy to enable us to make a difference and to enable any staff to contribute to activities that make a difference to us or our local communities.

Our charity of the year for 2022-23 is The Christie, Macclesfield.

Our commitments for the coming year are to raise funds for The Christie and to work with them on any proposed joint projects; to reduce our carbon footprint in our workplaces and to reduce the amount of our waste which goes to landfill; to encourage pro bono work; support projects in our local communities and to support staff who undertake voluntary work.

Our policy:

Our policy is made up of five key areas which are explained below:

1: Charity
  • Nominate a charity local to one or more offices to receive any funds we raise as a firm;
  • The chosen charity should fit with the cultural values of SAS Daniels;
  • The charity should be in a position to raise the profile of SAS Daniels, in a chosen / relevant target market;
  • The agreement to support the charity is not an exclusive agreement and other charities can be supported throughout the year if it is felt appropriate to do so.
2: Environmental

Concentrate on our work place initially and:

  • Monitor the recycling;
  • Have an environmental audit carried out;
  • Share environmental best practice with our staff;
  • Encourage a reduction in the use of products which cannot be recycled, and to increase the recycling rate of those products which can; and
  • Actively engage with local groups to improve the local environment.

3: Pro-bono work and trusteeships

Review and update records of trusteeships held by staff;

To renew training for those participating to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities. This should be renewed every 5 years, and the last training was in 2017, delivered by Kaye Whitby.

4: Projects in our local communities

Consider potential projects we can get involved in which may be offered by local charities or communities;

Consider potential projects linked to the regeneration of the towns in which we operate.

5: Voluntary work for other charities

We will encourage and support any staff who undertake voluntary work or raise funds for charities of their choice.
